After months of waiting and speculation, Apple will finally unveil the latest iteration of its iPhone in just two days.

The tech giant scheduled a press conference for Wednesday, Sept. 12, to launch the latest device, expected to be called the iPhone 5.

Apple has kept details of the phone under wraps, but leaks and rumors say the iPhone 5 will have a taller, thinner and lighter body than its predecessors and will run iOS 6 and use 4G LTE. Other cosmetic changes include the headphone jack, which will likely move to the bottom of the phone, and use of the teardrop body design popularized by the MacBook Air.

No official pricing plans have been announced, either, but it seems the iPhone 5 will carry the same cost as a new iPhone 4S - $199 for a 16 gigabyte version with a new contract. Reports have also said Apple will discontinue the iPhone 3G and use the iPhone 4 model as its free phone.

Also expected at Wednesday's press event is a line of new iPods, complete with an innovative redesign for the iPod Nano and iPod Touch and slight changes for the iPod shuffle.

Some rumors regarding the event claimed Apple would also release the iPad Mini, a smaller version of its popular tablet, but it seems more likely that device won't see the light of day until a separate event in October.
