Katie Holmes Divorce, Then Fashion World: Style Awards, Bobbi Brown Ad And Runway Show Debut

Katie Holmes is making a strong entry into the fashion industry since she and Tom Cruise announced their split in late June after a five-year marriage.

Holmes made her first scheduled publicity appearance on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the 2012 Style Awards, and then announced she will be the first celebrity model for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics the day after. She is also set to debut the first runway show for her chic Holmes & Yang fashion line on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

At the Style Awards, Holmes stunned the fashion audience in a chic black and gold Carolina Herrera outfit when she came out on stage to present an award to Herrera herself.

The 33-year-old wore a black shirt, a gold pleated skirt with black beaded detail, and gold pumps for the 9^th annual event held in The Stage at Lincoln Center.

The next day, WWD reported that Holmes confirmed her deal with the 21-year-old makeup line to appear in their Spring 2013 ad campaign.

The "Kennedys" actress revealed she met Brown only two months ago when they "were introduced by a mutual friend," according to the report.

The two met to discuss Brown leading the makeup department at the debut of Holmes' fashion line Holmes & Yang at New York Fashion Week.

"We had tea in the afternoon, and we bonded. And then it was, 'Oh, my God, you would be the perfect face for Bobbi,'" Brown told WWD. "We weren't looking for a celebrity, just a cool, amazing woman who would fit with our brand. And she's just ridiculously, naturally beautiful."

"We instantly got on and talked about so many things from what it's like to be a busy working mum and what it's really like to start a company," Brown added. "I'm a big fan of her clothes, I've been a fan of her acting for years and there is not a more beautiful 'Bobbi' face than Katie. She looks amazing without make-up, she looks incredible with make-up and I just think she's a great role model for so many women."

Holmes met Jeanne Yang through her ex-husband Tom Cruise. Yang was their stylist for five years before the two started Holmes & Yang two years ago.

"She has incredible taste, and I look to her for a lot of guidance," Holmes told WWD. "I'll have an idea, and I'll say, 'Jeanne, is this good or is it not?' And she gives her opinion."

Holmes revealed that price points for individual items in the Holmes & Yang line range from $700 and to $3,000. The pair will debut the collection's first runway show on Wednesday, Sept. 12, during New York Fashion Week.

The 2012 Style Awards will air on the Style Network on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. EST.
