Nashville is about to return with new episodes where Sadie is going to be back and will likely be much stronger than she was before.

Chatter On Avery's Alcohol Problem & Juliette's Pregnancy On 'Nashville'

On Tuesday, TV Line posted an interview with actress Laura Benanti (Sadie) who dished on her character's horrific experience with her violent ex Pete hitting her. It sounds like this was a one-time situation, but it's definitely going to take some time for Sadie to gain an emotional recovery.

"The shame, the fear, the shock, and the being thrust back into a life she had left, at first that takes over," the actress said. "She, like many would, retreats and feels the embarrassment and the shame that can often accompany a horrific act like that. And then slowly starts to come back to life and realizes that she has to handle this properly."

It's not going to be an easy path for Sadie to take when it comes to escaping an abusive relationship, but she's going to realize what's really best for her.

"She was in an abusive relationship as a younger person, and had the courage to leave the relationship and have a really meaningful life and success," Benanti said. "So she has to figure out a way to reclaim her identity now that this person has reared his fist."

Nashville returns with new episodes on Wednesday, February 4 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
