Big Hero 6 won the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

The 2015 Oscars had tight competition for the animation award but, as always, only one film's creators could walk off stage with the honor.

Nominated for this year's category were Big Hero 6 from Don Hall, Chris Williams, and Roy Conli; Song of the Sea from Tomm Moore and Paul Young, The Boxtrolls from Anthony Stacchi, Graham Annable, and Travis Knight; The Tale of the Princess Kaguya from Isao Takahata and Yoshiaki Nishimura; and How to Train Your Dragon 2 from Dean DeBlais and Bonnie Arnold.

The 87th Awards marked the first nominations for the majority of the category, including Big Hero 6's Don Hall and Roy Conli Song of the Sea's Paul Young The Boxtroll's Anthony Stacchi, Graham Annable and Travis Knight, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya's Isao Takahata and Yoshiaki Nishimura, and How to Train Your Dragon 2's Bonnie Arnold. Chris Williams, Tomm Moore, and Dean DeBlois were nominated in the Animated Film category in 2008, 2009, and 2010, respectively.

Last year's award went to Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, and Peter Del Vecho for Frozen.
