The 2015 Oscars had tight competition for Live Action Short Film but, as always, only one film's creators could walk off stage with the honor.

Nominated for this year's category were Aya, which chronicles an unexpected airport encounter, from Oded Binnun and Mihal Brezis; Boogaloo and Graham, in which two boys are tasked with raising two chicks, from Michael Lennox and Ronan Blaney; Butter Lamp (La Lampe au Beurre de Yak), in which a photographer travels to a Tibetan village, from Hu Wei and Julien Féret; Parvaneh, during which an Afghani refugee struggles to wire money home, from Talkhon Hamzavi and Stefan Eichenberger, and The Phone Call, which involves an older man's call to a crisis hotline, from Mat Kirkby and James Lucas.
