Supermodel Kate Upton became famous for flaunting her curvaceous body in bikinis, but now she is slowly transitioning to the high fashion world.

Upton appears nearly completely covered up on the cover of French magazine Jalouse, and she's equally conservative in the fashion spread inside.

The 20-year-old model dished to the magazine about the differences she has noticed in the world of swimsuit modeling and the world of haute couture.

"It's funny, fashion shoots do not resemble at all swimwear shoots," she said. "Pose, I can do, but customer expectations are not the same. Everyone acts differently on the set. The bikini photos are for any American home. Fashion is for a unique group."

Upton said she recognizes that it takes different skills to be successful in different sectors of the modeling industry, noting that posing for a French audience is more of a challenge.

"The world of fashion is a clique," she said. "What matters is not to be pretty, but different, to reunite all the characteristics of perfection, but in a staggered manner. This is what they want."

The Jalouse photo shoot is significantly different than anything audiences have come to expect from Upton, who was born in Michigan and raised in Florida.

Upton was the cover model for the 2012 edition of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, an honor that's gone to other iconic models like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Marisa Miller. She also appeared on the cover of GQ's summer issue wearing a red, white and blue bikini top and sucking on a similarly colored popsicle.

At the end of last month, Upton appeared in a series of ads for Skullcandy's line of headphones. The photos featured her stripped down and wearing headphones and not much else.
