While speaking to Cinema Blend at SXSW, Judd Apatow revealed that he was fighting to get support to make the sequel to Superbad.

In th interview, he revealed that he had always wanted to make Superbad 2 but there weren't any takers for it. "I always wanted to do a sequel to Superbad, but I couldn't convince anybody...The actors, no one with Superbad thought we should do another Superbad," he said. "But I wanted to do Superbad in college deperately, but no one would listen to me."

The film has a cult following, and while we don't know about the financial technicalities, there would be plenty fans flocking to see a sequel. Superbad followed the misadventures of Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) who are plagued by high school rites of passage, getting with the cool crowd, and most importantly, losing their virginity. The film was directed by Greg Mottola and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The movie won the MTV Movie Award for Best Film in 2008, The Empire Awards and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Comedy.

Apatow was promoting his latest movie, Trainwreck, starring Amy Schumer and Bill Hader at SXSW. The film has been directed by Apatow and written by Schumer, making for a delightful comic pairing.

Trainwreck will release on July 17 2015.
