The second season of Penny Dreadful is about a month away and the closer it gets to the premiere date, the more photos Showtime has decided to release from the set.

Big Things Ahead For Showtime's 'Penny Dreadful'?

This week the Victorian supernatural drama's official Twitter account has been offering an inside look at production through some rather haunting images from the set.

On Sunday Showtime posted a foggy countryside set for an "eerie" scene by the train tracks.

More Of Sir Malcom & Sembene's Secret History To Be Revealed On 'Penny Dreadful'?

This "eerie" photo came just days after a picture of a carriage for the London Metropolitan Police. This image was released on March 28 and indicates that law enforcement will be introduced this season to bring a little order, or perhaps just more chaos, for Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and company.

Series creator John Logan insists that the program's scope will expand this season. Between Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) battle with evil and a new, human threat coming to London, the stakes are bound to be higher than ever.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
