Is Connie Britton Getting Ready to Return to 'American Horror Story'?

Constance Langdon

Murder House (Season 1)

Lange knocked it out of the park from the very beginning of American Horror Story, playing nosy neighbor Constance Langdon in Murder House. While this was a supporting turn, she quickly turned into a fan favorite due to her classic one-liners doled out to Vivien (Connie Britton) and Moira (Frances Conroy) and her villainous sensibility. She wound up winning a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Emmy for her performance.

Sister Jude/Judy Martin

Asylum (Season 2)

Due to Lange's stellar supporting turn in Murder House, the actress was bumped up significantly with a much bigger part as Sister Jude. A hard-nosed nun in a mental institution, Sister Jude was tough as nails though as the season wound down, her vulnerabilities were soon revealed. She ultimately became mentally ill herself and turned into a more sympathetic figure, creating a full story arc.

Fiona Goode

Coven (Season 3)

Lange's performance as Fiona, the "Supreme witch" in Coven was the actress at her most divalicious. Another lead performance, Lange infused Fiona with a sarcastic edge while capturing her paralyzing fear of growing old. It was also her most villainous performance on the series. This was perhaps her most dominant performance on the series and it led to her receiving an Emmy for the role.

Elsa Mars

Freak Show (Season 4)

Her final performance, Lange created a very complex character out of Elsa Mars, the owner of a struggling freak show in Jupiter, Fla. She was initially presented as a sympathetic figure as she tried desperately to keep her freak show afloat, but her ambition ultimately made her succumb to some nasty things, including murdering her best friend Ethel (Kathy Bates). Lange sported a German accent for the role and was definitely her most restrained performance.

While some performances/characters may be stronger than others in the eyes of AHS fans, it is hard to deny the impact Lange had on the series. It remains to be seen if she will return at any point in a future season of American Horror Story.
