One teen's suicide has made a big impact on the country.

Amanda Todd suffered from bullying in school and online which eventually led to the teen taking her own life.

Now according to the Vancouver Sun, Carol Todd, mother of Amanda, is speaking out to save other children from suffering her daughter's fate.

"Amanda was a very caring individual," said Carol in an interview with the Vancouver Sun. "She would help others who needed help,"

The 15-year-old Amanda posted her story on YouTube and told the world how she felt about the mean things people did to her. She was constantly harassed, beat, stalked and unable to start anew when she changed schools. She became extremely depressed and weary about the future.

Carol said of her daughter: "One of Amanda's goals was to get her message out there and have it used as a learning tool for others."

A month before her next birthday, Amanda committed suicide.

Carol, a teacher, says her daughter's suicide had an important meaning.

"I have lost one child, but know she wanted her story to save 1,000 more."

The whole incident stems from when Amanda was 12 and flashed her breasts on a webcam. The person on the other end of the webcam began stalking the young girl and followed her using social media.

Carol talked about her daughter's internet stalker: "Every time she moved schools he would go undercover and become a Facebook friend. What the guy did was he went online to the kids who went to (the new school) and said that he was going to be a new student - that he was starting school the following week and that he wanted some friends and could they friend him on Facebook."

The stalker then gathered her schoolmate's names and sent the webcam footage to them.

It soon became too much for Amanda to deal with and she took her own life after sending her message to the world.

"Amanda wanted to tell her story to help other kids," said Carol. "I want to tell my story to help parents, so they can be aware, so they can teach their kids what is right and wrong and how to be safe online."

A trust fund has been set up by Carol to raise money for anti-bullying support and awareness.
