As far as the movie itself, he said, "I thought the director (Sam Taylor Wood) did very well. You can only work with the materials you're given, which is a great line. The best part of the whole thing is the world now knows how to spell Dornan. I spent 40 years spelling it correctly to people."

The Professor, who is one of the most celebrated obstetricians of Northern Ireland, said that his entire family is proud of his son, who also stars in the BBC hit drama The Fall.

He said, "He is quite influential in the family and always was. He's solid, a very grounded boy. A good lad. He's sisters are very proud of him - we all are. He's held himself well."

Jamie is rumored to be reprising his role in the sequel to 50 Shades of Grey next year.
