It looks like CBS's The Big Bang Theory is finally confronting Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) engagement as well as other relationships in the final weeks of season 8.

There will be plenty of relationship drama in the season 8 finale of The Big Bang Theory, as revealed by TVLine.

The Big Bang Theory show runner Steve Molaro spoke with the publication this week and revealed what was in store for Penny and Leonard as well as Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik).

CBS Finale Dates for May 2015 - Including 'The Big Bang Theory,' 'NCIS' & More

"[Amy is] fed up with how slow their relationship is progressing over the past five years," Molaro said. "So she puts [Sheldon] up against a wall and says, 'What are we doing?'"

This causes Sheldon to cause some drama between Penny and Leonard.

"He goes, 'You two haven't picked a wedding date yet. Why not?' So that comes to a head, too," Molaro said.

Expanding upon Penny and Leonard's drama in a new TVLine report, Molaro said that the reasoning behind why they've waited so long to get married will be found out in the finale.

"Penny and Leonard would tell you the reason is she's busy with her new career and things are really great between them and they're in no rush," Molaro said. "But, underneath it all, what's the real reason? That all comes out."

On a more creative level, as far as the show dynamic, Molaro noted that "the show has always been Leonard and Sheldon, our single bachelors living in that apartment," which would obviously change once Leonard and Penny get hitched.

However, he did say that "we're going right into the heart of that at the end of the season."

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
