A statement from Executive Director of the fraternity, Laurence Bolotin, says that she hopes to work with Warrior Beach Retreat in the future to support "our nations' brave veterans."

Last weekend, students from the University were in Panama City Beach for a spring fornal and were staying at the Warrior Beach retreat.

Members of the fraternity are under investigation after spotting on and taking flags away from wounded veterans.

The mother of a wounded veteran, Linda Cope, recounted that students picked on the veterans by taking their flags, spitting on them and their service dogs, and urinating on American flags.

"In all of my years, I've never seen such debauchery and disrespect," Cope said.

According to Cope, both the men and women of the university acted horridly.

The school was alerted when the Assistant Vice President for Media Affairs, Janine Sikes, received an email from Cope and sent an apology email.

"I want to make clear that I am deeply sorry for the affront that our students may have caused," the email read. "I want to assure you that it is not representative of our students or our university, and we will make every effort to learn more, take appropriate action and prevent similar incidents from occurring again. The University of Florida is extremely concerned about allegations, specifically of illegal behavior with our students. We're taking this matter vary seriously and opened an investigation to determined what happened and what we need to do in response."

It's unclear how long the investigation will last.
