The Avengers: Age of Ultron you see in theaters won't be quite the same as what Marvel will serve up on DVD.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Won't Feature Coulson, Agent Still 'Dead'; Joss Whedon Explains

Earth's Mightiest Heroes hit screens across the UK on Monday, prompting the overseas branch of Amazon to launch pre-orders for the DVD. Writer/director Joss Whedon wasn't able to bring his three-hour cut to theaters, but it sounds like the home release will recoup at least some of the 40 minutes that were left on the cutting room floor.

The DVD and Blu-ray will come equipped with an extended version and an alternate ending, according to ScreenCrush.

Whedon recently lamented having to kill his babies, explaining which parts of the story were dropped to make Age of Ultron shorter than it's predecessor (a feat Whedon achieved by two full minutes, according to the official run time). Information regarding the Maximoff twins was dropped, according to BuzzFeed, as were details regarding Black Widow's past.

"They'll see the light of DVD, most of them," Whedon told Collider of the deleted scenes. "Honestly, I'm not positive. A goodly sum."
