Amazon Instant Video May Releases Include 'Fifty Shades of Grey' & More

Yahoo is green-lighting 18 new shows for Yahoo Screen, including one long-formed scripted comedy called The Pursuit, which is said to be similar to NBC's mega-hit Friends. The site is attempt to target millennials in their programming, the highly sought after demographic of people who have reached adulthood since the year 2000 and beyond.

"This lineup is really appealing, we think, to the millennials... and we know that's a really attractive demographic to advertisers that can do a really solid job of making us that must-buy," Yahoo CEO Melissa Mayer said at its NewFront presentation Monday.

"We are interested in scripted video, but only when it really plays to our audience," she continued. "So we feel that The Pursuit is a great comedy for millennials, but a lot of the content we're going deep on is more news oriented."

One show of note is a new reality show produced by Cowell centered on electronic music DJs. Other shows feature stars like Naomi Campbell (Empire) and Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and Furious 7).

There is no telling when any of these shows will premiere on Yahoo Screen, but likely in the next year or two.
