The Crawfords won't be back for season 2 of Secrets and Lies, but Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) could be looking into another family sooner than fans realize.

The Crawfords Will All Officially Not Be Back On Season 2

The show was picked up for another run of episodes by ABC after its steady performance during the 10-episode midseason run from March-May. However, the show will be back before the same time next year--meaning fans can get caught up in whatever the new twisty murder mystery will be much earlier.

ABC President Paul Lee announced during a conference call May 12 that the show was moving up to give Nashville a mid-winter break come next year. The move means the show, which found great success in its Sunday night slot, will be moving to Wednesdays at 10 p.m.

'Secrets and Lies' Is renewed For Season 2!

It is currently unclear what will occur on the new season, though it was confirmed several times that Lewis' detective would be the only character to carry over--with Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe), his wife, Christy (KaDee Strickland), his daughters, Natalie and Abby (Indiana Evans and Belle Shouse), his best friend, Dave (Dan Fogler), and neighbor, Jess (Natalie Martinez) all only set to appear during the first season.

The first season followed Ben after he discovered Jess's son, Tom, dead in the woods bear their homes. Over the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Tom was actually Ben's son--which caused more problems, including Ben being tortured by a vigilante neighbor, his impending divorce with Christy, and a leak in the crime lab which botched the entire case for Cornell after she realized Ben was truly innocent. In the end, his daughter, Abby, was revealed as Tom's killer, and Ben covered for her. It was hinted in an online addendum to the season finale episode that he later died while in prison.
