Val Chmerkovskiy revealed what it was like to take home the Mirrorball trophy from ABC's Dancing With the Stars this week.

Demi Moore Admits She Didn't Want Rumer Willis Competing on 'DWTS'

Chmerkovskiy and his celebrity partner Rumer Willis won Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday. This was Chmerkovskiy's first win with the series since joining as a pro in 2011.

The winning pair spoke with TIME this week and revealed their reactions to winning season 20 and the special golden Mirrorball trophy.

"It was incredible," Chmerkovskiy said, of winning for the first time. "I had been waiting for this moment for a very long time."

"We had a great group of fans who supported us from the beginning, and they are the reason we won," Willis added. "They were out there every week voting for us and gathering support. It was awesome."

While Willis and Chmerkovskiy had many famous friends tweeting out support for them, from Miley Cyrus to Ashton Kutcher (plus her famous parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis). But it was the everyday fans that Chmerkovskiy believes put them over the top to win.

"For me it was incredible to experience that," he said, of the celebrity endorsements. "But to be completely honest, it was the anonymous fans, who aren't famous, who spend their entire season making fan art, and voting for us-those people mean so much to us."

Chmerkovskiy's dancing doesn't stop now. He is about to go on the Dancing With the Stars Live tour this summer before competing in yet another season of Dancing With the Stars in the fall. Meanwhile, Willis will be taking a break from dancing for now.
