Witney Carson admitted that the most recent season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars was "challenging" yet "rewarding."

'Dancing With the Stars' Pro Emma Slater Talks How Latest Season Was 'Awful' For Her

Carson recently spoke with Glamour about the 20th season of DWTS where she was partnered with The Bachelor's Chris Soules. The pair got all the way to fifth place, which was obviously a worse showing than the previous year where she won the Mirrorball trophy with Alfonso Ribeiro, but still a high placement.

The pro dancer admitted that dancing with Soules was more challenging than with Ribeiro, but Soules' evolution over the course of the season was rewarding.

"It was a really challenging season, especially coming [off of] Alfonso's [season], who's just so naturally...he just has it," Carson admitted. "So with Chris it was definitely challenging, but I was talking to someone about this yesterday and it has only been my most rewarding season because I really could see the progression in Chris every single week. As a teacher, that's something that we look at in a student. The fact that we made it to the quarterfinals, and he had no dance experience...I feel like Chris is what the show is about. He is the show."

Carson has only competed on the show for three seasons as a pro and she is hoping to returning for a fourth this fall, when the 21st season premieres.

"I hope so. Nothing's been confirmed, but yeah, I hope so," she said, when asked if she was returning. "We'll see. I'm excited."

Dancing With the Stars returns for a new season on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
