There have been significant denials from both Kit Harrington and the creators of Game of Thrones that Harrington's character would be back next year after his character's shocking apparent death in the season five finale, but there may be signs of a potential return emerging after all.

Show Creators Talk 'Unpredictability' Of Season 6

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD. DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW

According to Vanity Fair, a casting call has gone out for a new character simply being called "Legendary Fighter"--a character whose description is very similar to one of a character from the books who has yet to make it onto the show's canvas, but who played a significant role in scenes involving Jon Snow's potential birth.

The Five Most Shocking Moments From The Season 5 Finale

"A man in his thirties or forties who is a great swordsman and a paragon of knighthood. He carried a hugely famous sword on his back. The show is seeking a very impressive swordsman for the role--the best in Europe, for a week of filming fight scenes for a season 6 role. His ethnicity/race isn't specified, unlike many other roles," the magazine notes.

From this, several book readers have seemed to conclude that the character will be none other than Arthur Dayne, Dany's brother Rhaegar's best friend, who was actually long dead when the show begins--meaning the character would show up only in flashbacks--which could still be extremely important.

Fans have speculated that Dayne's arrival on the scene would mean the show will be tackling the Tower of Joy plotline from the books, which occurred when Ned Stark flashes back to it while under the influence of Milk of the Poppy. In that scene, Ned and several others square off at the Tower against Dayne and two other members of the Kingsguard, who are protecting Ned's sister Lyanna, who is there after her 'abduction' by Rhaegar. Rhaegar was already dead by the time Ned's group arrived, meaning many assumed the Kingsguard was actually protecting someone royal--like his potential child, who was in the tower with Lyanna. Ned is one of the few who survived the battle, and is too late to save Lyanna, but makes her an unspecified promise as she dies--which was believed to have been to protect the identity of hers and Rhaegar's child--the same one who was later passed off as his own b*****d, Jon Snow.

If the show is in fact tackling this storyline and casting Dayne, it could be a potential sign that Snow would be resurrected at some time, as scenes revealing his parentage wouldn't normally be placed in the plot if his character was already dead.

Naturally, nothing has been confirmed by the show's creators.
