Angela Bassett is going to miss her American Horror Story co-star Jessica Lange in the next season, but she is confident that a return is always possible.

'American Horror Story: Hotel' Will Be Set In 'Present Day'

Bassett, who has shared the screen with Lange over the last two seasons of American Horror Story, recently spoke with Bustle about her co-star leaving the series and how it will impact it.

While Bassett is returning for season 5, titled Hotel, Lange will not be coming back for the upcoming season.

Is Caitlyn Jenner Headed To 'American Horror Story'?

"She brings such experience and a way of doing things that's just so uniquely her own," Bassett said, of Lange. "That's why I think they're going to throw everything at you [in Hotel] just to try to balance how much we're going to miss her presence."

However, Bassett knows that Lange would be welcomed with open arms if she wanted to return.

"It's a revolving door," Bassett said. "It's close to an ensemble or acting troupe...you can go and you can return, and characters do that all the time. [Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy are] very loyal to their actors and crew . . . It really is quite possible that she could come back and if she wants to I'm sure the door is wide open."

In the mean time, Bassett and her other co-stars are returning to continue the show's legacy. Other stars in Hotel include Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare and Finn Wittrock. Pop superstar Lady Gaga is also set to star in the new season.

American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
