Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez and his team of attorneys received news earlier this week that they did not want to hear.

On Wednesday, Judge Susan Garsh, who oversaw the murder trial regarding the death of Odin Lloyd that wrapped up in April, which led to the first-degree murder conviction Hernandez is currently serving time for, rejected the motion to overturn or reduce the verdict.

According to Boston Herald, Judge Garsh did not agree with Hernandez's lawyers' argument that the jury's verdict was established on "improper speculation, conjecture, and guesswork."

"[T]he court finds that a rational jury could find that the commonwealth proved every essential element of the crimes charged ... beyond a reasonable doubt," the judge revealed.

The convicted 25-year-old's defense team has argued that there was lacking evidence to convict the former New England Patriots tight end.

"Notwithstanding the testimony of more than 130 witnesses and the introduction of more than 430 exhibits at trial, the commonwealth utterly failed to prove that Hernandez intentionally participated in the killing of Odin Lloyd," his lawyers' said in a statement.

It seems as though Hernandez's chances are slimming in terms of getting out of prison. As of right now the sentence he is serving gives him life without parole.

The former pro football player and his team of lawyers have a separate request still pending in regard to their ongoing investigation involving an anonymous tip about a juror during the case who may have been untruthful.

Hernandez is also awaiting trial for a double murder.
