The Nexus 10 vs iPad 4 is a consideration for many consumers wanting to get their hands on a new tablet this holiday season. Many consider the specs to be the most important, where as others want the best value for money. So which is the best buy?

Both tablets have sold well in the market, so here is a brief comparison of the products for consumers to evaluate the devices:

When considering size, the Nexus 10 is thinner, wider and taller than the iPad 4. Interestingly the Nexus 10 is also lighter, however, the Apple product has that “Apple-feel” and those used to the unique and slick designs of Apple products may well be weighted towards the iPad 4 simply because of this. However, that's not to say the Nexus 10 feels cheap – it is also a sturdy device and feels appropriately expensive for what it is.

The Nexus 10 has a screen of 10.55 inches, where as the iPad 4 is slightly smaller at 9.7 inches.

Comparing resolution, the Nexus 10 features 4 million pixels compared to the 3.1 million featured in the Apple iPad 4.

Both devices have amazing displays, with the Nexus 10 featuring the impressive Super PLS TFT HD technology, which will be surprisingly good for some shoppers who do not know the Nexus 10 as well as the famous iPad.

However, one big difference between the devices is that the Nexus 10 only comes with WiFi connectivity. That is a surprising omission from the Nexus makers. The iPad in comparison comes with 3G, 4G LTE and WiFi capabilities. That could be a deal breaker for some shoppers who really want the ability to connect to mobile internet through a paid monthly plan. However, for most who do not want to sign up for a 3G/4G LTE plan this will not make any difference.

The Nexus 10 comes with dual-side NFC technology – something advertised a lot on the new Samsung Galaxy S3. This is a neat little trick for the Nexus 10, and if a shopper already has a Samsung Galaxy S3 or any other NFC abled device then this could draw them towards the Nexus 10. The iPad 4 does not have NFC capabilities.

Both tablets come with a 5-megapixel back camera with identical image resolution. Also both can capture videos in HD.

Meanwhile both devices have a second front camera, and in this department the Nexus 10 has a 1.9-megapixel camera where as the iPad features a 1.2-megapixel camera.

The iPad comes with the option to purchase the device in either 16GB, 32GB or 64 GB memory capacity. The Nexus 10 meanwhile only offers the option to purchase a 16GB or 32GB model.

The Nexus 10 has a 1.7GHz quad-core power SVX T-604 GPU with 2GB RAM, where as he iPad features a Samsung-made A6X chip with just 1GB RAM.

For shoppers who love the Android or the iOS specifically, this could also be a clear deal breaker. The Nexus 10 comes with Android 4.2 JellyBean preinstalled, where as the iPad 4 features iOS 6.

Pricing could be a major consideration for most shoppers and in this department the Nexus 10 starts at $399 while the iPad starts at $499 for the lowest model version.
