The upcoming seventh season of The Vampire Diaries is a season of change with the departure of actress Nina Dobrev who portrayed Elena and her many doppelgangers.

Anyway, at San Diego Comic-Con the cast and executive producer Julie Plec had plenty to share about the seventh season, including the notion of it including many flashbacks and flash-forwards.

The supernatural series is known for its incredible flashback scenes spanning various time periods like throughout the 1950s, among other key times during the various vampire characters' lives.

In the latest season that wrapped airing, a flash forward was used to progress the story since Elena went to sleep due to a spell.

PopSugar reported last Wednesday that Plec said "All of the above" when asked about flashbacks and fast forwards for the upcoming season.

Michael Malarkey, who portrays Enzo, revealed that he would be in a flash forward.

"Enzo's flash forward is potentially going to see him with somebody that we may already know on the show," Malarkey shared.

The site also revealed what Paul Wesley dished about his character Stefan and Ian Somerhalder's character Damon's flash forwards.

"I know that someone is after Damon and Stefan, and there's imminent danger and threat. They're running from this thing, but I don't know what it is. It's ambiguous, but obviously on purpose," Wesley explained.

The series returns to The CW in the fall for Season 7.
