The Real Housewives of Orange County star, who is married to baseball star Jim Edmonds, is currently grieving the loss of his first wife, LeAnn Edmonds Horton, who passed away after battling with cancer last month. Even though she was on good terms with her husband's ex-wife, Meghan sparked controversy by saying that she now wants to step in and be a "real mom" to her step kids.

According to Reality Tea on Tuesday, Meghan was forced to backtrack on her comments by better "clarifying" what she meant.

She said, "I want to clarify something I said that might have been lost in translation: when I said I wish I was my step kids' mom I didn't mean I wish their moms didn't exist. I think having a relationship with your mother is one of the most beautiful gifts a child can have and I would NEVER want to replace my step kids' moms or step on their toes."

The reality television star further explained, "Regardless of my relationship or my feelings toward the mother, this is about the kids. And it would be awful to see my step kids not have their mother involved in their lives. I was simply trying to stress how much I love my step kids; it's hard to share the time we have with them, and it's hard not to be able to make decisions for them like healthcare or school since I feel so strongly involved in their lives."

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs every Monday night on the Bravo network.
