Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is unsure of how much space he should give Amy (Mayim Bialik) when CBS's The Big Bang Theory returns for season 9.

CBS Fall TV Schedule Fall Revealed

When we last saw Sheldon and Amy, they went through a devastating Skype call where Amy said she wanted a break, right before it was revealed that Sheldon had intended to propose to her.

Heading into season 9, Sheldon doesn't know when to contact Amy again to see if she wants to give the relationship another try. This and the Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) storyline are addressed in the new premiere synopsis released Monday:

'The Big Bang Theory' Engagement Ring Situation Addressed At Comic-Con Panel

"Brilliant Sheldon is confronted by a mystery of the universe he cannot unravel: when a woman wants time apart to think, exactly how much time does that mean, and is there any way to hurry the process along?" the synopsis reads. "In Las Vegas, Penny and Leonard march closer to marching down the aisle, but has Penny gotten over Leonard's infidelity? And if so, will he do anything to un-get her over it?"

The Big Bang Theory showrunner Steve Molaro previously said at Comic-Con that the engagement ring will be addressed immediately. "The answer will be in the premiere episode of season 9," he said.

It remains to be seen if either of the show's couples will truly last, but fans are surely hoping for it.

The Big Bang Theory season 9 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
