Dylan O'Brien's post-apocalyptic character sparked a telepathic romance with Theresa (Kaya Scodelario) back in the Glade, but his girlfriend's sudden disappearance and status as "The Betrayer" will throw a wrench in their post-maze plans. Even with Brenda (Rosa Salazar) now in the picture, lip locking will be at a minimum.

"Another thing I love about our story here is that we never harp on romance. That's never at the forefront. Even for a second," O'Brien explained, according to Zap2It.

Heart eyes and first loves may make up a major component of some of the other YA adaptations that hit theaters this year, but Scorch Trials is more focused on defeating WICKED and putting an end to The Flare.

"I do love those movies," O'Brien said. "But then I'll hate it when all of a sudden they're making out, and I'm like, 'Okay, but PEOPLE DYING! YOUR LIVES ARE IN DANGER!'"
