Emile Hirsch Makes Court Appearance For Assault

On Monday, Us Weekly announced that the Into the Wild star will be going to jail for 15 days after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault. Last January, the actor attended the Sundance Film Festival where he apparently put a female movie executive into a chokehold.

It seems that Hirsch could've gone to jail for up to five years, but avoided this by by entering a plea deal with prosecutors. Along with his 15 days locked up, his punishment includes 50 hours of community service and a fine of $4,750.

Emile Hirsch Reportedly Assaulted Executive In Utah

The charge will be dismissed after he completes his sentence.

When the chokehold incident with Daniele Bernfeld reportedly took place at the film event in Utah, Hirsch apparently claimed it was self-defense. But it seems that the situation was much worse than just choking since records show he dragged the woman across a table and slammed her to the floor. Bernfeld said the incident was "insanely painful and absolutely terrifying."

Hirsch's lawyer claimed the actor had "consumed an enormous amount of alcohol on the evening in question and he has no memory of what happened."

Bernfeld told the Associated Press that she was not satisfied with Hirsch's punishment.

"It took two people to pull him off me, and if not for their intervention, the attack would have continued," she said. "I thought I was going to die."
