Tobias Menzies has returned to the Outlander set, and actor will be revisiting his role as Jamie's (Sam Heughan) sadistic nemesis, Black Jack Randall. The season 1 finale made it look as if the nightmarish character had met a bovine induced demise, but those who have delved into Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber.

"The cast and crew were filming the much anticipated encounter between Jamie Fraser and Black Jack Randall, following their dramatic confrontation in the finale of the show's first season," Scotland Now reported on Wednesday, posting photos of Menzies and Heughan brandishing swords in Glasgow's Pollock County Park.

Menzies will pull double duty once more in season 2, taking on the role of the 20th century's Frank Randall as well as his 18th century ancestor.

The first part of Outlander's second season will take place in Paris. Jamie, still recovering from his Wentworth Prison trauma, will follow Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) guidance as he enters the French court and attempts to derail the Jacobite Rising. The second half of the 13-episode season will see the story return to Scotland.
