A celebrity couple will be competing against each other on Dancing With the Stars next season.

'DWTS' Judge Len Goodman Is Leaving The Show

Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) and Big Time Rush singer Carlos Pena, Jr. have both been cast for the next season of Dancing With the Stars. What makes this especially interesting is that they are married, going by the combined name PenaVega. The couple announced the news at Disneyland on Thursday:

This isn't the first time a pair of celebrities closely associated with each other have competed on the same DWTS season. In season 18, ice dancing partners Meryl Davis and Charlie White competed, with the former going on to win the Mirrorball trophy.

Why Are There So Few Pros Announced for 'Dancing With the Stars' Next Season?

However, this is the first time in DWTS history that a married couple is competing against each other. This was supposed to happen in season 8 with then-couple Jewel and Ty Murray, but Jewel wound up suffering stress fractures in her legs before the season, which did not allow her to compete. Murray did participate in the season and came in fourth place.

As for the upcoming season, Vega and Pena have performing experience so it will be interesting to see which one comes out on top.

Vega and Pena join previously announced celebrities Nick Carter, Victor Espinoza, Hayes Grier, Bindi Irwin and Chaka Khan. Paula Deen is also rumored to be joining but this has not yet been confirmed by DWTS producers.

The entire cast will be known on Wednesday, Sept. 2 on ABC's Good Morning America.

Dancing With the Stars season 21 premieres Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
