Grace Helbig is definitely one of the best YouTube stars around, especially since she remains so true to herself and you can definitely tell she is comfortable with being herself on and off camera.

What Was One Of Grace Helbig's Tasks As An Intern At 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' While She Was In College?

The New Jersey native dished to Seventeen a defining moment in her high school career that has stuck with her since it is the back-to-school season right now.

Helbig has been out of high school since 2003, but she has carried a memory from her freshman year with her as she now approaches turning 30 in just a few days from now.

Is 'The Grace Helbig Show' Getting Renewed By E! For A Second Season?

This moment was nothing truly spectacular, but it's real and holds a lot of weight with the Internet celebrity.

Helbig reminisced about this one particular high school day, saying it's "still so clear to me."

What happened and why has it resonated with her still to this day? Well, the YouTube star shared she was with her friend Rachel walking in the crammed hallway between class periods. Helbig noted they were both "in honors classes together."

The 29-year-old even called her younger self and her friend "nerdy". Rachel's mechanical pencil dropped to the floor during that walk in the hall to get to their next class and Helbig recalls pointing it out, saying, "Rachel, you dropped your pencil!"

Rachel, however, didn't care and shouted, "Leave it!" while continuing her walk to her next class. Rachel didn't want to disrupt the flow of the hall or out herself for being a bit nerdy.

Why is this so significant? Well, Helbig couldn't get over her friend abandoning her pencil like that. The YouTube personality revealed that looking back on it she understands what it symbolizes especially as she took her YouTube channel and channeled it into her late night E! series.

"The idea that you can't give up what's special about you because you think it might disrupt someone else's day," Helbig revealed.

Helbig's moment from ninth grade made her realize "We can all get scared and lose a piece of ourselves along the way, but you have to remember to take all of yourself with you as you move forward, or you won't succeed."

Helbig even mentioned how she kind of lost herself for a bit of time since she was on a show where they wanted her to dress in a more sexy way than what she was comfortable with.

"No matter how old you are, going with the flow can seem so much easier than standing out. But if you drop your pencil, go back and pick it up!" Helbig urged, adding, "These days, being on my own shows, I'm doing my best work because I'm expressing who I am. It's as if I have all my pencils with me - and that feels so good."

Again, Helbig's moment in high school is my no means spectacular, but it stuck with her since it symbolizes why you should always be true to yourself. Authenticity is so important.
