Team India standout Virat Kohli had been doubtful to play in the game on Thursday after suffering a knee injury at Chenai in the first ODI.  Fortunately for the cricket club, he will be fit enough for the second ODI against the likes of Pakistan at the Eden Gardens.

The batsman obtained the injury while bowling the 41st over of Pakistan's run chase.  He fell on his knees when his back foot slipped during his delivery motion.  Kohli was then forced to limp off the playing field and Suresh Raina took over for the last ball of his over.

Prior to Kohli being cleared to play, the following information had been given via release by BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale, according to Zee News.

"Virat Kohli, who sustained a foot injury while bowling in the first AIRTEL ODI against Pakistan at Chennai earlier today, underwent an MRI scan after the game.  All is major ligaments are fine.  There is minimal injury fluid in his knee.  He will recover after treatment," he said.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni made the official announcement on Wednesday that Kohli will indeed be available for Thursday's game, which came after the team finished its net practice in Kolkata.
