The winner even had something prepared on what he would say to Lynch if he had won the season. But when it turned out that Zerdin was the one whose name was announced, it took time for that sensational feeling to kick in.

"I was preparing in my head what I would say to him before I got told to get off the stage," Zerdin said. "I was going to say to him, 'Well done. The best man won. You're a great act and congratulations.' Then when they said my name, my heart skipped a beat...it took a moment to sink in."

Zerdin's act as a ventriloquist got him a good haul of popularity as he was able to communicate comial acts with his puppets. One of them managed to speak while Zerdin was off stage.
