Clary Fray is officially through the looking glass in the first promo for Shadowhunters.

The ABC Family adaptation of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series is taking New York Comic-Con by storm this weekend, and the cast kicked off their four-day adventure by serving up an in depth look into season 1 (see video below). When Clary discovers her birthright as a half-angel/half-human demon hunter, her entire life is quickly flipped upside down.

"When I turned 18, I discovered the truth about the world," Katherine McNamara's Clary explains. "Nothing what you thought it was. No one is who you thought they were."

Images of Clary's fellow shadowhunters float across the screen. Jace, her potential love interest; Alec Lightwood, the gimlet-eyed archer; Isabella Lightwood, the dangerously skilled fighter.

"And some people have a dark side," Clary warns. "Really dark."

Cue the intro of the teen's best friend, Simon. Looking menacing in blood red light as the sanguine liquid drips from his mouth, the once innocent mundane is clearly headed into dangerous territory.

"I also discovered that whatever your destiny is, it will find you," Clary councils as she runs into the darkness. "And when it does, be ready."
