Like many other unemployed Americans, former politician turned show host Eliot Spitzer will be without a job once again.  Just a couple of days after Current TV was sold off to Al Jazeera, the former New York governor has been terminated from his spot at the station.

Spitzer's position on the primetime talk show "View Point," will now reportedly be given to somebody else.

The 53-year-old spoke to Brian Stelter of The New York Times about the respective situation and what his take is on the station's future.

"Moving forward, their mission will be different, he said.

During the interview, Stelter described the show's new direction as "more international newscasts, less liberal talk about the news."

While the move to remove Spitzer from his post is set in stone, Current TV isn't scheduled to fully complete its transition into Al Jazeera America for a few more months.

However, Spitzer's contract was actually up at the end of the November election.

He previously resigned as New York Governor in 2008 after being caught patronizing in a high-class prostitution service called Emperors Club VIP with an escort going by the name of Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

After a brief hiatus from the public spotlight, Spitzer went on to host the CNN talkshow and punditory forum "In The Area" from October 2010 to July 2011.  He then resigned from that show before settling on Current TV.  While his ratings weren't great, they did well enough to keep the channel from being dropped.

In 2011, there was speculation that he may go back into politics and possibly run for New York Mayor upon Bloomberg's finish.  Spitzer remained relatively mum on the return despite now having the free time to pursue such an endeavor.

"Others presume I have the ambitions.  Let me leave it at that for now," Spitzer said.
