The BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame on Jan. 7 received a lot of buzz on the internet and not just for Alabama's win (42-14.)

The biggest winner was one of the player's girlfriends, Miss Alabama Katherine Webb.

Webb, 23, who is dating Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, gained over 150, 000 followers on Twitter in less than 24 hours after the game's announcer pointed her out and paid her compliments. During the live televised broadcast, Brent Musburger, 73, publicly called Webb a "lovely lady" and a "beautiful woman" while more than 16 million viewers were tuned in.

"You see that lovely lady there, that's AJ McCarron's girlfriend," Musburger announced. "Wow, I'm telling you. You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. Honest. What a beautiful woman....Whoa! So if you're a youngster in Alabama, start getting a football out and throw it around with pops."

Almost immediately after, Webb's social media presence soared and she went from having less than 3, 000 followers before the game to almost 160,000 followers in less than 24 hours. Webb has also surpassed the amount of followers that her boyfriend, McCarron, has: 101,000.

Webb said that she was "flattered" by the attention and Musburger's compliment.

"I laughed hysterically. I was flattered," Webb told TMZ. "And slightly embarrassed ... but I thought it was the funniest thing ever. I never expected that. I've been reading on Twitter that Musburger had backlash that he's 'Creepy' ... if I were to see him I would say, 'I don't think you're creepy at all!'"

Webb, who is also a model, met McCarron in early December at the Miss Alabam USA pageant, she said in an interview with the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. The two met again during the holidays and confirmed their relationship by the end of the month.

"(McCarron) has such an amazing heart. He realizes that family and friends and the people closest to you are most important," Webb told the paper.
