After the remake of Disney Movies -- Alice in a Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella, another fairytale live-action film is set to be produced, which will star "If I stay"actress Chloe Grace Moretz.

The 18-year-old-actress took to her instagram account to confirm the news to her fans on how excited she was to be part on the iconic role of the 'Little Mermaid'.

"Here it is!! I've been waiting months to tell everyone how excited I am to take on this beautiful journey with Working Title, Universal, and a beautiful script by Richard Curtis," Moretz wrote alongside a screenshot of an article from Variety, who reported the story. "#TheLittleMermaid !!!! Here we go!!!"

Moretz is best known for films like 500 Days of Summer, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Kick-Ass, Let Me In, Dark Shadows, If I Stay and many more.

Earlier this year, director Sofia Coppola left the project after creative differences with the studios, Variety wrote. Since the project is not yet dated, execs felt it was smarter to take one more pass at the script with a top-level writer in order to attract the type of talent they want for the project.

According to Variety, Moretz had been the frontrunner for the role even while Coppola was still attached; some insiders point to Coppola's unwillingness to go with the young star as her impetus for parting ways with the project. Following Coppola's exit, the studio still wanted Moretz for the role but did not want to make it official until a writer was attached to pen the final pass at the script.

Meanwhile, prolific romantic comedy writer Richard Curtis (Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually) is in talks for the final script. It's unclear how closely the remake will follow Disney's 1989 animated film.

The Little Mermaid, as we all know is a famous fairy tale written by Hans Christian Anderson, which narrates the story about a mermaid, who wished to become a human after deeply falling in love with a man whom she saved from drowning. But the live-action film will surely give a fresh portrayal of the famous fairytale.

Until the young actress puts on her tail, according to E! News, she is busy with a number of projects and is currently filming Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising for Universal, and just wrapped Brain on Fire. She will also be featured in Sony's The Fifth Wave and also has November Criminals set to release next year.
