Supernatural's Winchester brothers are addicts, plain and simple. Their drug of choice? Secrets, and lots of them.

'Supernatural' Season 11: Haunted Halloween Masks Plus Sheriff Donna; Jared Padalecki Teased 'Plush'

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are fully aware that secrets cause chaos, strife, and - in extreme cases - the occasional apocalypse. Yet every year, one or both brothers find a reason to relapse into the world of shifty sidelong glances and covert missions. In season 11, it will be Dean's Darkness connection that causes the hunters' latest communication breakdown.

"Obviously there is some odd connection," Ackles told Entertainment Weekly of Dean and Amara. "Opportunities are going to present themselves to Dean and this is where we see he's unable to act in a way that we would normally think Dean would act. There's this odd hold that the Darkness has over him and he doesn't know A) What is it; B) How to deal with it; and C) Whether it's going to get worse or better...Dean doesn't know how to deal with it, nor is he going to tell his brother about it."

Find out how long Dean can keep his little charade afloat when Supernatural airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
