Photographer Julie Willson decided to create a video in addition to her recent photo shoot to help raise awareness of Down Syndrome. The reason why Julie Willson wanted to do a portrait series of children with Down syndrome, because of her sister Dina with down syndrome who passed away four years ago.

Down syndrome, also called Trisomy 21, is a condition in which extra genetic material causes delays in the way a child develops, both mentally and physically. Children who have Down syndrome tend to have certain features, such as a flat face and a short neck. Down syndrome is a lifelong condition. But with care and support, children who have Down syndrome can grow up to have healthy, happy, productive lives.

To honor her sister Dina's 40th birthday, Willson invited all 11 families to come to Fusion Church in New Jersey to share their stories in a video documentary.

"Down syndrome is sadly looked at as a negative thing but after watching this video, you will see how wonderful it can be," Willson wrote alongside the clip on YouTube. "
