Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon, surprised co-host Raven Symone for her birthday special and couldn’t help but spill a few Empire secrets.

“See how Joy tries to get those spoiler alerts?" He joked. "What you’ll see is a continuation of the crazy. What I love is coming back you’ll start to see what happens when families are split apart. What’s happened to this family? We’re so broken…With Cookie being in jail for all those years and Lucious doing his own thing…The parents gotta fix themselves [first].”

As for whether Raven will return to the show as a guest slot, she said, “No.”

Smollett joked, “How you know?” before Raven revealed she has yet to receive a call to return. Fans might remember she played Jamal’s childhood friend who returned and said they had a child together. In the end, it turned out it was really Lucious’ child. So it only makes sense for her to return one day.

The show last ended with a huge cliffhanger as pregnant Rhonda was attacked by a mystery person and Lucious Lyon lost his control of the Empire company, thanks to his youngest son Hakeem Lyon.

Fans will have to wait until March 30 for new episodes. In the meantime, check out Smollett’s interview below.
