It looks like the holiday season wasn't very merry for Sofia Vergara this year. Even though she is enjoying life as a newly married woman after tying the knot with beau Joe Manganiello back in November, her ex-fiance Nick Loeb is creeping into her life again as their bizarre embryo battle has just taken a new twist.

According to Page Six on Saturday, Loeb is getting a little help from Chicago-based Thomas More Society as the nonprofit law firm is looking to defend the embryos. Loeb wants to bring them to term while Vergara is looking to keep them frozen indefinitely, considering the fact that the ex-couple is no longer together.

The site says that the Thomas More Society has asked to file an amicus brief in LA on behalf of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the National Catholic Bioethics Center.

What's more, the law firm states that Loeb has a right as a "father" to bring the embryos to term so he can raise his two daughters as a single father.

To make matters worse, a judge in the case has ruled that Loeb can move forward with his civil case back in October. It is scheduled to resume in January.

So far, Vergara herself has not made any additional comments about the case.
