So, what's it going to be? Finally go to the gym, swear you're never going to drink again? When it comes to resolutions, we tend to go way over our heads and promise ourselves changes we can't live up to. By the end of the year, we're left disappointed and unfulfilled.

Before you reach for the moon yet again, let us help you make 2016 your year. Here are resolutions that might just be possible.

Manage your expectations

This is a resolution in and of itself. When you try and find ways to improve yourself next year, realize that you have to be realistic. Shooting for the stars every time won't help you achieve your goal. It's best to manage your expectations and set realistic resolutions that you can actually live up to. Otherwise, you're never going to feel good about yourself.

Make it a win-win situation

So you promised yourself you're going to finish 50 books before the year ends. Just in case you don't get to read all 50 but manage to finish 20 books, that's still 20 books less your goal. When you think about it, it's still a win-win situation. So stop trying to beat yourself up about unfulfilled goals. You're halfway there my friend.

Sweat it out any way you can

One of the most common resolutions on loop is getting fit. Let's face it. We can't all commit to the gym four days a week or do the 5km run we plan to do every morning. Instead of being fixated about it, find other means to sweat it out. Park your car on the other end of the lot. Take the stairs every morning. Get off one bus stop early. When we make the rain an excuse for not being able to make the run, that's when we start losing motivation.

Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps

How many of us are promising ourselves to disconnect from social media from now on? That's going to be a lot to ask for because you've been so used to scrolling through Facebook, hitting "Like" is part of your daily routine. The trick? Baby steps. Leave your phone downstairs when you're about to hit the sack. Use apps like Anti Social and Cold Turkey to block social media websites when you're working. Commit to these simple techniques and you'll be on your way to detachment in no time.

Have little adventures

We all promise ourselves to travel more come next year. However, schedules and things happen that we often can't make that dream trip a reality just yet. Don't be bummed. Have little adventures. Cook something out of your comfort zone. Eat at that restaurant you've always wanted to try. Take a shot an open mic nights and even karaoke. While you wait for that trip to happen, you're still having the time of your life experiencing new things.

Think JOMO, not FOMO

Now that you intend to drink just a tad bit less, then it only makes sense to stay in more often. Instead of feeling the fear of missing out, think of the joy of missing out. You can wear your comfiest pj's, sip your hot cocoa and binge on "Jessica Jones" until the sun comes up.
