One source said Wednesday morning that paying back the government is one of Teresa's main priorities: “The primary focus for Teresa since being released from prison, aside from filming ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ and the family has been getting her debts paid.”

She is also taking more steps to prevent anything like that from happening again.

“Teresa no longer just signs her name on the bottom line of a contract or loan documents. The IRS isn’t something that can be dismissed, and Teresa is working with her attorney to get payments to the agency arranged.”

Joe and Teresa pleaded guilty to several fraud charges, including bank, loan and tax evasion, back in 2014. She was sentenced to 15 months and began her sentence on Jan. 5. While she was released two days before Christmas, she is still on house arrest until early February. Joe will begin his three year sentence shortly after.

The insider added that Teresa just wants to put all of this behind her.

“She would love to write one check to the IRS and have it over and done, but it’s just not the reality of the situation. The IRS will be paid, and Teresa will never get herself into this situation again.”
