While promoting ABC's Secret and Lies at on a Television Critics Association panel, Jordana Brewster also addressed rumors about her possible return in Fast and Furious 8.

Actors Who Might Be In The Running To Join Fast and Furious 8

Slash Film reported from the event, revealing that Brewster was still hopeful.

"There hasn't been discussion but I can kind of see it go either way," Brewster said. "Mia is with Brian but on the other hand she's still Dom's sister. I don't know. I'm not sure."

Fast and Furious 8 To Be Inspired By Paul Walker's Vision For Series?

While most of the pivotal characters of the Fast and Furious series like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson have confirmed their return, there has been no official word about Brewster's return. Most had simply assumed that she will be not be coming back as her character arc was concluded with Brian O'Connor's (Paul Walker).

O'Connor's decision to leave the dangerous world of fast cars so as to be able to raise his family with Mia, who was expecting their second child, was shown toward the end of Furious 7. This was a way to give Walker a happy send-off, but Mia was also written into it. It does seem unlikely that she would return in a pivotal role, except for a chance appearance here and there. But Brewster had previously addressed the issue in an interview with Huffington Post Live.

"I don't know [if I'd do another film], but it's always dependent on the fans," she said. "If they want one and if there's an appetite for it. We never want to jump the shark!"

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
