Newly single film director Rupert Sanders sent messages to Kristen Stewart recently but the Twilight actress ignored him in an effort to remain loyal to her current beau Robert Pattinson, according to a source.

Sanders and Stewart met on the set of the 2012 film Snow White and the Huntsman, which he directed and she starred in. They were caught having affair though at the time Sanders was married to model/actress Liberty Ross with children and Stewart was in a steady relationship with Pattinson.

Ross filed for divorce in January and now that he is single, he hoped to rekindle his romance with Stewart. However, the 23-year-old was not willing to give in to his advances.

"Rupert's reached out to Kristen, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. He texted her a number of times after Liberty filed for divorce, however Kristen didn't respond," a source told Perez Hilton. "In truth, she regrets ever getting involved with Rupert, because of how much it hurt Robert and the amount of public backlash she was subjected to."

Stewart has been "left in limbo" regarding her relationship with Pattinson while she in the United States and he oversees in Australia to film The Rover, the source added. The On the Road star hoped to make things work with her former Twilight costar but as far as Sanders, the source said, "that ship has sailed."

Stewart presented an award with Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, where Snow White is nominated in the category of Best Costume Design and Best Visual Effects. She arrived on the red carpet in a Reem Acra gown, Jimmy Choo heels, Fred Leighton jewelry and crutches - after cutting the bottom of her foot on glass.
