Doctor Strange's preeminent villain has stepped into the light...

Mads Mikkelsen will face off with Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) later this year, but, despite being the film's big bad, no one knows exactly which Marvel villain he will play. On Sunday, however, the Internet exploded as filming took to the streets.

Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), and Mikkelsen spent the last several months filming in Nepal and England, but residents of the Big Apple got an up close and personal look at the November film over the weekend. It appears Mikkelsen might be an even bigger threat than we originally thought - Mordo, a supervillain in his own right, can be seen running side by side with his alleged nemesis. Mikkelsen, meanwhile, is sporting some impressively creepy eye makeup.

"Mads' character is a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect," Marvel's Kevin Feige told Screen Rant. "[He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through."
