While pregnancy rumors have been swirling for Beyonce for months now, she has taken to a rare interview to speak on how being a mother to four-year-old Blue Ivy Carter has changed her.

Beyonce slayed on the cover of the latest issue of Elle magazine and in her first interview in years, candidly spoke on her and her husband Jay Z’s child.

“I think just like any mother, I just want my child to be happy and healthy and have the opportunity to realize her dreams,” she said. The singer also gushed about Blue Ivy when speaking on how her painful experience led to an amazing one.

“Everyone experiences pain, but sometimes you need to be uncomfortable to transform. Pain is not pretty, but I wasn’t able to hold my daughter in my arms until I experienced the pain of childbirth!”

It’s also no secret that Beyonce has an extremely close relationship with her own mother, Tina Knowles. She revealed just how close she and Knowles are when asked about lessons her parents have taught her.

“My mother loved me unconditionally, so I felt safe enough to dream. I learned the importance of honoring my word and commitments from her. One of the best things about my mother is her ability to sense when I am going through a tough time. She texts me powerful prayers, and they always come right when I need them. I know I’m tapped into her emotional Wi-Fi.”
