Fans of The Young and the Restless were sure that the storyline involving Sage's (Kelly Sullivan) son Christian being revealed as alive was going to finally come to a close and she and Nick (Joshua Morrow) would get to raise her son, but instead, the secret was kept buried following a horrific car crash which killed Sage.

Sage learned the truth after getting a confession out of Nurse Stephens and putting together all of the pieces from other clues she had picked up on, and after confronting Sharon (Sharon Case) about the fact that she was still keeping Sully, despite having also just learned the truth about the boy not being hers, she sprinted out to find Nick and tell him, with Sharon right behind her.

However, making a phone call while on the road proved to be a fatal decision for Sage, as she dropped her phone on the floor of the car, and bent down to retrieve it. When she got back up, she crashed the car and was ejected from the vehicle.

She did briefly regain consciousness, and implored Sharon to tell Nick the truth about Christian, something she said she would do, and then, with her son in her arms for the last time, Sage died from her injuries in the crash.

Now, the truth about Sully's parentage, and the fact that he's really Christian, is still safely being kept away, since Sharon and Sage were the only ones who knew the truth. And though Sharon did try to tell Dylan (Steve Burton) the truth, he quieted her and told her not to think about such emotional things after she watched Sage die. Now, it is up to Sharon if she will honor the promise she made Sage, or if she will continue keeping the lie a secret so she doesn't risk losing Dylan over the fact that she never told him about her miscarriage.
