ABC had a surprise for viewers when the network aired the third episode of its hit reality show Splash on Tuesday.

Contestant Kendra Wilkinson was so fearful of diving off of the 23-foot high board that she quit the show, which resulted in her being eliminated.

"I'm so sorry, everybody," Wilkinson, 27, said while visibly upset. "This is the first time in my life I've quit something. This will haunt me for the rest of my life."

WIlkinson's husband, 30-year-old former NFL player Hank Baskett, was shocked at his wife's refusal to conquer her fear of heights. Wilkinson expressed her disappointment to her fans on Twitter shortly after the episode ended.

"Damn I got a lot of hate tonight but ill (sic) take it," the reality star tweeted on Tuesday. "Big mistake signing up for the show, sorry I let you all down."

On Wednesday she wrote on the social media site, "I have no disappointment in myself. I did what I could n that was that. Diving is just not my thing n I found that out throughout the show."

Splash premiered on March 19 and started with ten contestants competing against each other by performing their best dive off of high boards. Each week the reality star with the lowest score is eliminated.

The show also stars former Miss Alabama 2012 pageant winner Katherine Webb, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, comedian Louie Anderson, singer Drake Bell, Rory Bishfield and former Baywatch star Nicole Eggert. They compete against each other in 10-meter-plus high dives. Chelsea Lately star Chuy Bravo was scheduled to appear but broke his leg during training.

Former child star and Cosby Show actress Keisha Knight Pulliam was eliminated in week 1 and football player Ndamukomg Suh was kicked off of last week's episode during week 2.

The six remaining contestants will compete on Splash next Tuesday at 8/7 Central on ABC.
