Earvin III Johnson, the son of NBA legend, Earvin "Magic" Johnson's son, officially came out when he held hands with his boyfriend in Los Angeles, Calif. on Monday.

The NBA legend expressed his love for him when asked his thoughts on his son, "EJ," being gay. Magic told TMZ that he and his wife, Earlitha "Cookie" Kelly, "love EJ and support him in every way" and that they are "very proud of him."

Another celebrity has vocalized their support for E.J. coming out - NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

Bryant, 34, who is the captain of the Los Angeles Lakers team and has helped the team win 5 NBA titles, said that Magic's love for his son is one everyone should take note of.

"Of course Magic is supportive of and loves his son. Why should anyone be surprised?" Bryant told TMZ.

Bryant then expressed his support for equality.

"What I can't tolerate is a lack of tolerance," he added.

Magic became a huge supporter for marriage equality after he announced he was HIV-positive in 1991 and reports questioned his sexuality. He has since used his celebrity to spread AIDS awareness. He recently spoke out on his stance against California's Proposition 8- the clause that bans same-sex marriage. Hearings for the ruling of "Prop 8" began in the Supreme Court on March 26.

"Prop 8 singles out one group of Californians to be treated differently -- including members of our family, our friends, and our coworkers," Magic said in a recorded telephone message according to Huffington Post. "That is not what California is about. So this Tuesday, vote no on Proposition 8. It is unfair and wrong. Thanks."
