They had to make sure they didn't let the fact that his character was going to brought back to life let slip at all in the year it would take for fans to learn his fate, and the cast of Game of Thrones was forced to use some very specific tactics when it came to keeping the truth a secret.

Aside from insisting every time they did interviews that the character was dead and Kit Harington wasn't coming back (which technically wasn't entirely a lie since the character was actually dead), the cast had to use a very specific code name for his character.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jon Snow didn't appear anywhere on call sheets, scripts, or prop and wardrobe materials-and the cast had to call the character LC, for Lord Commander instead.

In addition, the cast got to have some fun with the nickname, as well as shooting the big resurrection scene which played out in the final moments of the sixth season's second episode.

In a separate interview with EW, Carice Van Houten, who portrays the Red Witch Melisandre, the character responsible for resurrecting Snow, admitted that there was a lot of attention to detail put into the scene, which director Jared Padowesa wanted to get just right, requiring it being shot from multiple angles.

As such, she got to repeat a very specific action several times-of washing Harington's almost entirely naked body for the scene.

"It took forever to resurrect him, forever!" She said. "It was such an important scene, we shot it from so many angles. I think I washed his body 50 times. There would be a lot of people who would be very jealous, including my mother and sister. I was joking about that with him-'if only my mother could see this'-and he loved that."

The aftermath of Jon Snow's resurrection is now set to play out over the rest of the sixth season.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
